4 Skincare Tips for the Week of Your Wedding

It is a week before your wedding and hopefully you have been on an effective skincare regimen that is well suited for your skin type and skin concerns for quite some time now. However, if that is not the case not to worry! There are still some important steps to follow to prep your skin for your special day.

Get a Gentle Facial Treatment 7 Days Out

Only receive a gentle facial at least 7 days before your wedding day to ensure there is no recovery time.

You should only receive gentle facial treatments a week before your wedding as other treatments like chemical peels, lasers or microneedling have a recovery period, as well as a higher potential of reaction. Any of these treatments should have been done at least 2 weeks prior to the day of your wedding. Getting a HydraFacial or a DiamondGlow treatment are also great choices for the week of, that help to reduce the look of fine lines, unclog pores, and infuse hydration into the skin. Be sure you are not trying a new treatment for the first time, to ensure your skin will not react poorly. After receiving a lovely treatment like this I also like to try and avoid wearing makeup as much as possible to savor the results.

Wear Sun Protection

Whatever you do, do not get a sunburn!

I know many wedding parties plan some fun in the sun prior to the big day, unfortunately I have witnessed this leading to a red-faced and red-shouldered bride on her wedding day, or worse a peeling bride! There is only so much makeup can cover, so be sure you are lathering on that SPF 30+ and reapplying as much as possible. You can even make it fun and get matching wedding party hats to protect you and your friends even further.

Hydrate Inside and Out

Drink plenty of water and apply plenty of moisture to your skin.

The week leading up to your wedding may be a bit chaotic and lead you to feel extra busy. Do not let those extra errands take away from your self-care and skincare. We should be drinking half our body weight in ounces of water per day, especially if you want your skin to be receiving any of that hydration. Also be sure not to skip out on any of your skincare steps and focus a little extra on moisturizing and hydrating your skin. This might look like applying your favorite facial oil over-night or using a nourishing and hydrating mask after some mild exfoliation.

Get Your Beauty Sleep

Sleep more than you party.

Whether it is pre-wedding stress or partying that impedes on your sleep habits do what you can to get restful sleep leading up to your big day. We all look and feel better after we get our beauty sleep. Both lack of sleep and increased stress levels can influence our skin and cause, acne, dark under-eye circles and a dull complexion, none of which are desirable as a bride.

In general, you will want to take extra care of yourself and your skin the week of your wedding and avoid making any drastic changes or trying anything new that your skin may not be used to. Cheers to a glowing and blushing bride!
